Here's How to Get an Impossible Burger for Free Today

Everyone’s talking about the Impossible Burger now that Burger King announced you can get its iconic Whopper made with the meat-free patty.

If you’re curious about whether the burger is worthy of the fanfare, but don’t want to shell out any money, you can nab one for free. Beyond Meat, the company who created the Impossible Burger, deemed May 3 Beyond Day Friday in honor of its debut on the stock market.

Here are the details: Visit a participating restaurant that serves the Impossible Burger for a free sandwich. Options include Carl’s Jr, Del Taco, Veggie Grill, Bareburger, and Epic Burger. Nothing is truly free, so you do need to purchase a drink and side item to get the burger for free.

So what’s up with the Impossible Burger anyway?

Essentially, the Impossible Burger is just a soy-based veggie burger made of Water, Soy Protein Concentrate, Coconut Oil and Sunflower Oil (among other things).

As Men’s Health previously reported, the veggie patty is actually healthy. A single 4-ounce patty contains 240 calories, 19 grams of protein, 9 grams of carbohydrates (3 grams of which are fiber), and 14 grams of fat (0 grams of which are trans fat).

In comparison, a 4-ounce grass-fed burger patty, contains 224 calories, 22 grams of protein, 0 grams of carbohydrates (and so 0 grams of fiber), and 14 grams of fat (0.8 grams of which are natural trans fats.

Although the Impossible Burger may not take the place of your favorite beef option, Men’s Health Nutrition Editor Paul Kita thinks “it’s pretty good.” If you’re open to giving up the standard beef burger (at least once), today might be a good day to try an Impossible Burger out yourself.
