EXCLUSIVE: Saks Off 5th Reveals First Private Label Beauty Line, Fifth City

Saks Off 5th is betting on a beauty label of its own.
The off-price retailer announced today the launch of Fifth City, its first private label beauty collection. The line makes its debut with more than 35 products that span face, eye and lip products, as well as makeup brushes and hair accessories. Starting today, it will be sold both online and in 20 Saks Off 5th doors, including the New York 57th Street, Brooklyn, Beverly Connection and Washington, D.C., locations.
"Saks Off 5th is a destination for fashionable, on-trend products at exceptional value — we are Saks style for less," wrote Tom Ott, chief merchant for Saks Off 5th, via e-mail. "Based on our customers' desire for an enhanced beauty offering at competitive pricing, we identified a solution: to produce our own line of high-quality, luxury beauty essentials at a great value. We have years of experience and knowledge of what a high-quality, affordable price model should be. Having launched The Next Generation collection in 2018, Fifth City marks yet another significant step in Saks Off 5th's strategy to expand our exclusive merchandise assortment and grow our category offerings."
Fifth City's product range includes mascara, blush and highlighter sticks, lip glosses, cream eye shadows, makeup brushes, ribbon hair ties and towel turbans. Most items come in black and rose gold packaging, and all are priced between $4.99 and $60.
According to Ott, the collection is geared toward both women and men of all ages. "Beauty is inclusive and a category that is rapidly growing," he wrote. "We want to be poised for even more growth in the years to come. Knowing the strong interest in the category, we feel good that we will provide a trustworthy, high-quality beauty collection at the right price point."
Saks Off Fifth carries fragrance, hair care, makeup, skin care and beauty accessories from brands such as Burberry, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, By Terry, Laura Mercier and Estée Lauder. Following the launch of Fifth City, Saks Off 5th will look into expanding the collection's offerings, particularly in hair and skin care, according to Ott.
